HPS and MH combo for flowering?

i've never personally tried it, but i have to say that i'm a fan of the idea of mixing the different spectrum's of light by using a combo of hid lighting ..

Yes indeed!
I flower with HPS + MH and it works great.
And as a bonus, cheap bulbs are fine when running mixed spectrum.

It's best if you can run MH 'bare bulb' for UV.

It’s definitely worth a try I’d say. I was doing some reading, and a few posts said something about the blue light making the buds more potent with the downside of more leaf formation. The UV from the MH bulbs is supposed to be slightly “bad” for the plant which makes it create crystals as a defence as well.

A lot of was from years ago so it didn’t sound definitive to me.

In my area, you can score two 600w digital HID rigs for 100 bucks on craigslist.
Spend $30 for a couple of new bulbs and you're all set.
