If your using HPS, do you tend to start them off with the HPS, or do you like to hit them with the MH or CFLS for the first couple weeks?
Let me know what your opinions are.

I have grown for 19 years and have found the best start you can give your seedlings is from 250watt cfl's. Far outgrows MH and HPS up till about day 12, then I switch. The internodal development is far superior also and the petiole thickness is greater. I give this advice from having tried each and every method with strains I have grown for years.lol okay skins. well what if i have a choice of cfls or HPS??
take it easy on u seedlings hps may harm but can b done. try filtering the light a litle for the first couple days...cfls are lame o
Rather an ignorant perspective, you obviously base judgments on hearsay and hype, rather than fact and knowledge. Why do you come to this site if you are not open to learning?no way im a cfl hater and im not having it. get a glass cover to control the heat. they cant get enough light ever just watch the heat their sensitive
Yes, the light housing has its own built in ballast, you can get great reflectors for them that allow two to sit side by side, 500watts! 6500k lights on 24/0 for 12 days. Mine are a foot tall from seed by this time with 6 or 7 internodes, pisses all over hps or mh... Envirolights are the name.Thank you all for the input. I am going to try out cfls, see how they do for the first couple weeks, then continuevegging* with HPS.
Soo at 250 watt CFL? does it plug into a regular socket? Im new to cfls, maybe I should start a thread in the CFL section?
Prevalent in the UK, best place to get them is greens horticulture, Bristol.Envirolights? thanks alot. I think Im gonna give this a try.
6500k lol! Yes the more the merrier, and make sure they are no more than an inch away!Well, if I cant get my hands on these envirolights, What else would you recommend? Just as much watts of 6700K as I can get?
not as though you need permision, fire away.
