yo guys I just bought a 400w hps ballast w/ reflector and all, and it came w a 400w hps and 400w mh bulb. they told me they tested it before they sent it and it worked great. when i hooked it all up beautifully over my two plants and plugged it in, of course w my luck it didn't work. i tried both bulbs and nothing.
the ballast makes noise when its plugged in and i tried it in different outlets.

does anyone know of a switch i am not noticing or anything because i'm at a total lose of whats wrong i tried everything.

That's weird....but you can't put a MH bulb in a HPS ballast unless it's switchable, in which case you need to find the switch

how long you leave em on for broth?

my lamps usually take a while to fire up, but you should send your suppliers an email regarding this issue, could be a faulty ballast. Best of luck mate!

wierd mine doesnt have a switch to change the bulbs. i put my mh bulb in right after i used my hps and it worked. my lights didnt turn on before becuz i had so much stuff pluged into the wall that it didnt have enough power i guess. and make sure u wati 15 mins after everytime u turn ur light off to turn it on so u dont burn the bulbs out

sweet I got it to work. For some reason the bulb socket is really tight and the bulbs wouldn't go in that easily so I didn't want to break them. With a little extra man muscle i worked the bulb in some more and it works....... thanks again for the help guys!
