Hydroponics/Aeroponics for Very First Grow?

Hello, I'm a first time grower. I'm in the process of preparing my grow room, and I've yet to decide if I will use an organic, hydroponic, or aeroponic grow system.

The word around the board seems to be to grow in soil a few times before trying hydro or aero. Is this good advice? I sure am wanting to skip straight to hydro/aero.

For a hydro system, what about the Waterfarm? If I get real brave and try hydro for my first grow, would the Waterfarm be a good choice?

What kind of aeroponic grow system would you recommend?

Thanks.

Just go straight to hydro, but don't spend a bunch of money on a hydro system (waterfarm); just make one and use the money for something else that you can't make - like lights or fans.

This is my first indoor grow and you can check out my pics to see how its going for your self. Hydro is no harder than dirt as long as you have half a brain. Some hydro set-ups will take more care and maintenance and know how to use more than others and more than dirt, but if you do your research you should be fine. Before you buy any grow equipment buy a couple books first. Trust me it will save you money in the long-run.

There are many questions you should consider before you decide on a system. How much do you want to grow? How big do you want to grow? what's your budget like? do you wanna go organic? how often do you want to harvest? how are you going to start your next cycle? why do you want to grow hydro in the first place?

A dirt system is the most forgiving. Aeroponics could cause your plants to die within a few hours if something goes wrong. Hydro is the same way, a day or two with a problem results in dead plants.

I started with Hydro and the learning curve has set me back a month or two.

It depends on your comfort and knowledge level and other factors like grow room space, privacy, ventilation, etc...

I would say go for it. The first crop would be a learning crop and you would step through it cautiously. My yields tripled when I went to hydroponics and it is a lot less work. I learned hydroponics by reading threads here and at cannabisculture.com. Anytime you dont understand something, or need advise, ask on these boards.

If you are not capable of drawing a circle then you are too stupid for hydro or aero. Honestly, the only people who have problems are complete and total morons.

Well, you did jump into the Hydro/Aero forum asking if you should do soil or hydro first.. so I believe the answers are going to be somewhat biased.

It all depends on your situation.. if you have the time for longer harvests etc. you can go organic, IMO the taste is always legit.

If you want to push out fast growth and numbers go Hydro or Aero.

If you can watch your grow 24/7 and can be around it to care for it, go straight Aero.

If $ is an issue, I suggest doing soil.

Hope that helps out :P
