how much light does a cloner really need?

The cloner is appx 1'x2'. The dude at the grow shop told me that I should get at least a 4bulb fluorescent fixture. it seems like overkill for some clones. how much light do clones really need?

If I do get the 4 bulb assembly will it improve on clone rate or root growth. I think the dude was just trying to oversell me.

any thoughts would be appreciated.

...I use a 4ft (2)23w fluorescent shop light. One bulb cool white, one warm white
...I have an 80 site ezclone setup....works just fine.

...I only use dechlorinized tap water (no ferts, no rooting hormones), pH @ 6....keeping temps around 70f

....100% everytime, roots in 7-10 days

1 foot by 2 foot?

get a 3 lamp t5 24" undercabinet light... or go to home depot and get 3 or 4 single lamp (they even come with lamps, most of them) 24" fixtures, bolt them together on 2 peices of strut or wood to make on fixture. all you really need to cover is the footprint of the rez.
