if a seed cracks in water is it unviable?

i had a seed crack its root while soaked in water. i planted in moist soil about 1cm deep. after 2 days i checked it, and it didnt make any progress.

if a seed cracks its root whil submerged in water, does it make the seed unviable?
 
No..... but you touching the root with your finger will. If ya drowned the seed it will be unviable.
