Inline fan... push or pull?

If i'm gonna use an inline fan to vent through a carbon filter, should it push air into the filter or pull air out through it?

I would say push through the carbon filter .

yah, think of a fan as a chain. it's easier to pull a chain than to push it.

I think pulling through the filter makes better use of the Carbon filters surface area.

I'm going pull on the end of the vented hood.. it just makes more sense to me.

yup definitely pull throught the carbon filter.

neither, Im using an inline fan to pull cool air into the grow room. to exhaust all of my heat/smell I use squirrel cage fans, theyre just a lil bit louder than the inline fan and do a much better job at moving air.

Im venting into the attic so smell and heat really an issue for me, is that possible for u?

most carbon scrubbers pull air thru the fan and blow it out thru the carbon.

but air purifiers in the store work the opposite way (pulling air thru the filter, then blowing air out)

so i guess it doesnt really matter.

pull, the inline are made for pulling mostly

It just makes sense.. now I'm not sure on the efficiency of the squirrel cage fans agains the inline fans...

I was thinking the same myself, definitely pull...it doesn't seem as forced that way.

fans are better at creating a vacuum inside the filter(pulling air through) than pressurizing through the filter (pushing)

pushing has too much backpressure.

Push it, then pull it while you twist it and swing it around you head while naked, and scream "I AM A WARRIOR PRINCESS"
