Is a dehumidifier good for drying?

There seem to be two sides, one which says it is good cause it keeps humidity levels even and another side which seems to suggest it could dry out some stuff too quickly?

Wonder what anyone thinks and if you think a dehumidifier is ultimately good for drying or not?

Thanks.

Wouldn't it depend on your current RH situation?

Ex... a 85% RH room would probably benefit from a dehumidifier

a 55% RH probably nothing

a room with 20% RH would need a humidifier added...

Not sure. My situation would be outside in a tent. Maybe a bit cold-10/20-50 degrees. With a fan to keep circulation in the tent.
