Is ez cloner worth all that money ?????

Ok, I've been convinced of Hydroponics for a while now, and a Passive DWC seems like the best option for me. I've also decided that DWC is also my Best option for my CLONING set up.

EZ Cloner is supposed to be the "best" on the Market, but I always decided NOT to buy one because im good at DIY and know I can build one just as Good. BUT....

After reading more and more "independant" reviews of EZ Cloner, it seems that the Product really does a good job rooting Fresh Cuttings in a short space of time. I hate to admit it lol, but EZ Cloner seems like a Good Buy. Especially because it is a Bubbler as well as a Mister. However, as tempted as I am to just BUY one and avoid the hassle of building one just as good, I've decided to stick to my Guns and JUST BUILD THE DAMN THING !!!

So, puting my Flower Bubbler aside, I have 3 brief questions about my Clone Bubbler/Mister I'd like to Build.

1) Im confident about building a great Bubbler (air pump only), because I intend to Flower in a Seperate Bubbler.... but for my Clones, do I really need to add Misters to the Bubbles for reliable Root Growth on freshly Cut Clones? The Misters are the only thing Complicating the EZ Cloner I want to Build. Ideally I would build a Cloner without Misters, but something tells me having both Misters (via water pump) and Bubbles (via the air pump) is the reason the EZ Cloner works so well. What are your Thoughts?

2) I've found where I can buy the small "Misters", but I've read different things about how you install them. They spray sideways, against the inside of the Tub, spreading the Mist evenly everywhere. Is that enough to water the Plant's Roots? I thought aiming the Misters directly at the Roots would be better? If I do add Misters, there will also be Bubbles too, Btw, so the Roots will already be splashed by the Bubbles.

3) THE NOISE !!!! I've watched homemade clips about EZ Cloner on YouTube and it sounds like a TRAIN. I found a Thread online that showed somebody replacing the Air and Water Pumps with Quieter models. Paying soooo much for an EZ Cloner only to pay even more on new Pumps seems Stupid, thats why I want to Build one from Scratch. What I'd like to know is, has anybody here BUILT a Cloner that can hold approx 60 Clones WITHOUT sounding like a Train? I've got my eye on some "quiet" pumps, but it would be nice to hear reassurance from an experienced Bubbler Builder that it IS possible to build a EZ Cloner that practically Runs Silent.

This is the Best Place to ask this Question, as im hoping everybody here has already Built one. Once I get my head around the Misters, Pumps and the Noise I'll be confident building my own!

Thanks Fellas !

A guy called EPIXbud has a great diy for a cloner if i can find it i will post a link. Dont buy an areo cloner you can build on for way cheaper and its really easy.

Thanks TowerDog! If you can find that Post let me know. The more I read the Better.

I've been reading and watching Tutorials for aaaages now, thats why my Questions are so Specific, im in the final stages of deciding my Design. Any information will really help. Im sure I can build a better system than a EZ Cloner, but first I need to better understand how the EZ Cloner works, because 8/10 people who have one say it does a Great Job of Cloning. TBH If it wasn't so noisey due to its cheap air/water pumps I'd probably Buy one just so I can get up and running with a Proven System - Also, if I had one I could just take it apart and know EXACTLY how to build one back. But im resisting Temptation, Im just gonna build one :bigjoint:

Most Tutorials show how to Cut the Lid, etc, Install the Airstone, etc, which is helpful, but im already confident with building a basic Bubbler. The Questions I have are more specific, I need someone who has experience building a DIY EZ Cloner. For starters, most DIY copies of the EZ Cloner only have Bubbles, but the real EZ Cloner has Misters AND Bubbles, and im sure having both is the reason why it works so well.

Thanks for getting the ball rolling !

the misters are not needed
the stem submerged in the bubbles work 100% better and theres no need for gels or powder
misters get cloged and dont work as well

they just look cool

LOL @ That Shit's Avitar

Thanks, I read the image and clicked it, so it took me to your Album. I see you have a load of "fact sheets" covering different Aspects of Growing. I've bookmarked it, theres alot of good basic information in one place there. Thanks.

Like I said to TowerDog, the Questions that I have are a little more specific, for instance, the common DIY Bubblers most people build DON'T use Misters. For example, the Bubbler Cloner Fact Sheet you've posted for me doesn't use/mention a Mister either. For my Flowering Plants, a basic Bubbler without Misters will be perfect, and im confident I can build it. BUT, for my Clones I'd like to build an exact replica of the EZ Cloner, and the EZ Cloner uses both Air Pumps for Bubbles AND Water Pumps for Misters.... thats what my Thread is about :bigjoint:

Thanks for your responses guys, any help on my Questions is appreciated!

@ That 5hit,

Are you saying that a Bubbler Cloner without any Misters works just as well as a EZ Cloner that DOES have Misters and Bubbles? Let me know your experiences/opinion :bigjoint:

Im happy to add DIY misters to a Bubbler Design, because I think I'll have more reliable and rapid root growth than using Bubbles alone, but I need more info on Misters first.

Thanks Bro.

That 5hit, im smoking That 5hit so I must be high, I've just read this lol

ez cloner not worth the money since you are experienced enough to build your own DIY

Yeah, im experienced enough to build my own Bubbler, its not exactly Rocket Science lol, but my Specific Questions were more about MISTERS because im NOT confident I can add those to my Design. Im not sure if the Misters hit the Roots/Stem directly or if they hit the side of teh Tub first etc. "That 5hit" reckons a 100% Bubbler with the Stem directly left in the Water/Solution works BETTER than having Misters and Bubblers. I'd like to hear more opinions so I can reach my own. What do you think? Whats your Opinion/Experience?

Thanks.

Man, that Avitar Picture is making me Sick! Lol.....

Ok so I assume you have a DIY Bubbler you've built yourself that you use right?

1) when you Cut your Clones from the Mother you say you DON'T add any grow gel/powder? You just stick the Stem directly into the Bubbling Water straight away and they grow?
2) do you use any Nutrients with your Clones at any stage while they're in your Bubbler?
3) When you put your Clones directly into your Bubbling Water, how many Days until you see Root Growth under the water level?
4) Do you use your Bubbler Cloner purely to grow Roots before Transplanting, OR do you keep your Clones in the Bubbler and grow/Veg them (whats YOUR method)

Ideally, I'd like to only use my Bubber for up to 2 weeks for Fresh Clones, then trasnplant them elsewhere. Most people I've asked DO use some kind of gel or powder on fresh cuts, only a few people said they also used Nutrient at this early stage. Personally I wouldn't add nutes to Clones, but I was planning on using Rooting Gel, so if you are having success without using ANYTHING thats Interesting to know. Do you Veg in your Bubbler? Some people Clone, Veg AND Flower in their Bubblers, so their methods are completely different from my own, I just want to use my Bubbler 2 weeks at a time, But the more I know about other methods the Better.

Thanks Bro!

yeah misters do nothing
other then look cool

for cloning a plant in veg - the dwc bubble cloner without misters.. GAT YOU!

if you want to clone in flower - the dwc bubble cloner without misters.. GAT YOU!
if you want to clone in flower the swich back to veg - the dwc bubble cloner without misters.. GAT YOU!
as a growing method for start to finish - the dwc bubble cloner without misters.. GAT YOU!
as an all around cloning machine for taking cut from a mother - the dwc bubble cloner without misters.. GAT YOU!

yes

no
3) When you put your Clones directly into your Bubbling Water, how many Days until you see Root Growth under the water level?!
lessthen 2 week- 2 weeks being the longest i have ever waited 5 days being the earlyest
4) Do you use your Bubbler Cloner purely to grow Roots before Transplanting, OR do you keep your Clones in the Bubbler and grow/Veg them (whats YOUR method)!
i've done it both ways but now i only use it to clone
i keep my mothers in soil then put the cuts in the cloner then from there into my hempy setup
but i have done full grows in the cloner from start to finish (i would hand water the seedling untill the roots hit the water) but with clone you can stick the stem half way into the water then a week later have clones

use gels and powder if you like but its works with out it but it will not hurt to add it

Buy a 3 1/2 gallon bucket, a small air pump, 2"neoprene inserts.. throw an air stone in it, a few drops of Superthrive and a light nute mix, and your off and running...

Works so good :)

100% success!

Rooted clones in a week or less.

Total cost, around 25 bucks!

Ahhh, you've ot me thinking, here's a question. You keep your Mothers in Soil right?

WHen I get my Clones, Im planning on having them all in a Bubbler, selecting the best one as my Mother Plant and moving her to her own Bubbler.
So my ultimately, my Grow will have 3 Bubble Tubs, one for the Mother Plant, one for Clones and one for Flowering.

Can you think of any Probs I'd have with keeping a Mother alive in a Bubbler? Or, to put it another way, what are the benefits for you using Soil?

Wusup Closet Growth?

My first ever Grow grows ever Closer.... lol. My plans have completely changed, but im learning sooo much im glad I didn't just jump straight in with my original Design.

The more I think and learn about it, the Cheaper everything gets! Those Roots look Good, I know you are have a PHD in DWC :bigjoint:

BTW, I left a question on the "Ask Here For Help" thread started by Street Legal, you are a Fountain of Knowledge? Care to have a look at my humble Post over there?

Thanks.

I bought an EZ cloner and have 100% success rate, I then copied it and made about 15 of my own =) its a great design except I used a seperate reservoir that water drains to with the pump in that. For me it was worth the money because I made my own design thats just as successful and better in everyway. I just bought the 30 but you could build your own, I did but I have skills with my hands. Heres a few pics of the EZ with 3 day old clones and then my boxes with week 4 veg right after lolipoping/pruning them, my interpretaion of a SOG using 1000watt
