Is it easier to overwater subcools mix?

I think I'm having issues with not watering too frequently but putting too much water into each pot. Could that be due to poor drainage of the mix? For example last water I put 3 liters into a 7 gallon pot after a 4 day gap but it seems to have wilted more. I also tried waiting 5 days at one point and only 2 liters of water which is my norm. It just gets worse and worse. Just 2 of the plants have the same issue thankfully.

Your plants definitely look sick. I don't use subcool's mix, I did try it once, but thought it too hot. IIRC, with subcool's mix you're supposed to let it ferment for a few months before planting in it.

Drainage is important, so is air to the roots. Potting mixes can have too much fine material, slowing drainage and presumably air supply. I have found the addition of sharp sand requires screening the potting mix of its own fine humus, otherwise the sand slows down drainage too much.

There are a lot of steps in mixing your own potting mix, and it may take a few tries to get good results.

IME coots soil mix amended with subcools supersoil was hot, but with plants that size in 7 gallon drink about 1gallon every couple of days. Rarely any run off. If I did it again I'd do coots mix with20% castings maybe an extra shot of aeration and skip the super soil and just amend with Dr earth 4-4-4 ,top dress/teas as needed and introduce Dr earth bloom around the time I flip.
