Is This Normal

On some of my young plants, the newly formed leaves comming out from the centre are turning a slightly purple colour, they are all doing it, so maybe it is genetic. COuld somebody tell me what they think this might be please, i dont want them to die!
My temperature ranges from 77-90 (day) night it falls down quite far to around 60-67.
Humidity is 40 - 55 (day) and night 45-50. (i think)
do these sound ok to you, because i have spent all my money on lights and fans, and still it isnt changing that much. will they be ok?
I have put some homemade co2 in there, if that helps at all?

When the plants start turning purple this is a sign of coldness. Even purple varieties when grown indoors will not (necessarily) show any colour unless they are too cold.

At night you want to aim for a drop of 10 degrees (farenheit). If you are growing in a shed this could explain the large drop in temp's at night. Things are looking up though, spring is on it's way for us englanders and the nights are getting warmer.

I wouldn't be too worried so long as the plants look healthy. Some growers actually encourage this purpling of the plant, only of course if it is a purple variety.

What strain are you growing?

Also, during the day why does your temp's fluctuate so much? It sounds like your grow space is too hot during the day, then too cold at night. 90 is too hot, depending on how much co2 you are using as this helps the plants withstand larger temp's.

Definitely the cold though that's causing the purpling.

Shit, on young plants this is normal. They'll turn green in a couple of days. I'd still try and do something about those temp's though.

thanks for that info man. i think the only thing i can do is stick another fan in there. but that means buying another timer and everything. i already spent every last penny! im growing ice.
the temp doesnt change that much actually, usually it just stays in between 78 and 87, i no that the higher end isnt so good but i have put some howmade co2 in there. yeast, sugar, water trick. (could somebody tell me the quantities for the mixture again).

the home-made stuff isn't as reliable as the stuff in a can. There's no real way of judging how much co2 your plants are getting. It's only benefit is that you know they are getting extra.

What i did during the cold spell was put a fan heater to keep them warm during the night. This fan heater is 2.4kw, the equivalent of running 2400w of light. It proper killed my electric... after that I just let them suffer the cold, which in my flowering area wasn't too bad anyway.

A good way to tell if it is too cold is to listen to your own body. That's what I do. If it feels too hot for me then it is too hot for the plants, likewise with the cold. If you walk into your grow area and it feels cold, even slightly then you guarantee your plants will be feeling exactly the same. If you wouldn't want to spend longer than an hour in your space then imagine how your plants are feeling.
