I used the drop-in model. The in-line is just a container that holds the drop-in model in place for the flow, so they're technically the same.

When I originally tested this I wasn't sure it was going to work, so I didn't want to modify my feed manifold for an in-line unit that I might want to remove later on.
What really pisses me off about the Torus system is the ridiculously high price for the recharge liquid.
They don't tell you what it is, of course.
But it's something you can probably just buy at Wallmart or Home Depot and then dilute. Hydrochloric acid or something similar.
Diluted pH - also will do the job.
The recharge fluid is their real money maker.

It's not too bad once you really break it down. The 500mL will recharge my 70g model 3 times and costs $60, so $20 each. It's not cheap, but since the unit lasts me an entire run from start to finish I only recharge once every 3 months or so.

Totally agree. I bet a bit more research into the ion exchange resins would ID what exactly it is.

I don't have a laboratory and I am not a chemist.
But my guess is, that it must be not that hard to find out what it is.
I wonder if someone who works in a simple laboratory could determine it.
