i think there are some peeps that run jacks at 3g, 2g, and 1g. some don't use the exact ratio
I know. What I was trying to explain was that you don't need to add an exact amount of nutrient to the res to hit exact numbers. As long as the ratio between components is correct, all you need to do is add water until your EC meter says you're at the nutrient strength you want.

It doesn't have to be complicated at all.

10-4, good buddy. same with Lucas: you don't need to run 8/16. 2/4 is the same ratios

Simple veg mix that works for my coco under cmh and/or led.

If I need a lower EC, I start with more RO, rather than dilute after the fact.

The stock solution is just for the mix. Because both calcium nitrate and epsom salt are each a single nutrient double salt, there's no need to make stock solutions with them.

The discussion of mixing the nutrients is to highlight the necessity of mixing calcium nitrate into solution separately from the rest. This minimises the risk of "flocculation", a chemistry term for what happens when materials of high affinity interact in solution. I'm the case of calcium nitrate and epsom salt, if they interact at too high a concentration the calcium and sulfur bind into calcium sulfate, aka gypsum, aka wallboard, and fall right out of solution as a tan colored silt that your plants CANNOT USE hydroponically. So don't do that!
Solid information. Really appreciate it. First round with Jacks. Been using floranova only for the last few years without issues but I feel I'm not getting as good results as I could be. Plus I hate how thick the shit is.

All makes sense now. I went and picked up 10gal bucket with lids at Menards. Just happen to see it picking up paint supplies. I'll get all that ready per the ratio and the information you shared. My seeds should pop today. Can't wait.

Happy to help! I'll answer whatever questions you might have along the way. It's really pretty straightforward.
