Leaf tips curling down, Some slight yellowing, a couple leaves curling up on the edge

Soil = Fox Farm Ocean Forest

Water = tap water PH'd to approx 6.5-7. (just switched to distilled water today)

Temps = 65 - 75 degrees F.

Humidity = approx 35%

Age = Plants are 3-1/2 weeks old from the clone cup so I would say 5 weeks.

Height = all approx. 3 feet tall give or take.

Light = Was on 24/0. Just switched to 12/12 today. 400watt HPS 16"-20" from canopy. (I cannot yet afford a second 400watt ballast) I have a MH ballast sitting around... would it hurt to turn this loose on them?

Fan = oscillating 24 hours a day on medium velocity.

Filtration = hepa/ionizer/carbon (please leave feedback on how much this thing will help)

Nutes = I have been adding a small amount (1 tbs per 5gal) of Advanced Nutrients 2-1-6 Grow nutes to the water. Although I have never seen any yellowing showing me signs of Nitrogen deficiency so maybe I should have never started using the nutes. These last 2 waterings I have not added any nutes to the water but the condition has not yet improved.

Is fox farm known for having enough nutes to carry thru the veg period? This is only my third grow and I decided to go with the more expensive soil this time.

Many leaves tips are curling down and a few tips are turning yellow. A hand full of them are curling up on the sides like a leaf boat or something lol.

(the pics look yellower than the actual room... I am assuming from the HPS lighting vs. my camera)

What can I do to optimize my grow moving forward into flowering from here?

I would say 1.5 to 2 feet from the light depending on the plant. I will get exact measurements tomorrow.

i am having the same problems right now.
Flower: 6x4x8 room, 2 600 w hps, carbon filter w/ 6" duct, ocean forest soil, fox farm nutes plus silicate, zyme, bud candy, mc/cal, ph 6.5, plants are 2.5 ft tall.
Veg: 4x5x7 room, 1 400w MH, carbon filter w/ 4" duct, same with all nutes, ph 6.5, plants are about 8 inches tall.
I have narrowed it down to a few possibilities for myself: Here it is winter and room temps drop at night a bit more than in the summer. In both of our cases it seems to drop to about 68 degrees at nights. No idea if that could actually do this or not. From other reading and researching I have done it could be a couple things. I always start with checking the ph (in my case I'm doing ok with a 6.5). Possibility of over nuting and some excess salts building up on your roots? try flushing your plant. I use fox farm stuff so sledge hammer or just big bloom and H20. If you don't think its over nuting what is your plant needing?
in my case I have plants in flowering showing these signs and some in veg showing this. I have flushed all of my plants out as of last week. All of the plants that I had in veg responded very well to this and the problem is nearly gone. My plants that are flowering did not like it very much. After I flushed I had a couple of the plants fan leafs wilting up and dying. I re-nuted with my regular regiment ((1tbl big bloom, 2 tsp tigerbloom, 1/4 tsp cha ching, 8 ml bud candy, 8 ml power zyme, 1 tsp pro silicate) 3 days ago with the addition of a MG/Cal fert. The plants have responded well to that in the past 2 days. I'll let ya know if anything changes. So really I'm where you are with guessing at the problem. You could try some of those.

plants in the veg room are about 4 weeks old from clone. plants in flower are about 4 weeks into flower

a good way to increase your yield size is pruning techniques, lollipops is a good way. let grow what gets closer to the lights and remove lower portion of plant, along with removing all but like to 5-6 nodes take the small bs ones off that the light doesnt penetrate, around the main stem. google supercropping thats a great method if you setup/time it correctly. this may all sound odd but your colas will produce more because thats the only part of the plant receiving the nutes. Regular croping works will to but if your light wont hit it, it wasting nutes and your time. Give your plants support throughout your grow/bloom stages, tomato cages work excellent and smaller ones can be purchased at alot of different places for relatively cheap, i goto aco for 2 foot ones they are 2.49 ea
