Led lights for clones

Hey guys.

I am starting a fairly large op. And I was thinking of changing my MH lights in my clone room to led.

The room is about 2.5/1.2 meters.

I am planning too keep about 3/400 clones in there.

Anyways, at first glance two of the
Mars hydro tsl 2000 quantum board seems like a good choice. Mostly as the lightspread fits the space perfectly.

Anybody have any experience using these for clones and early veg?

Also how are the heat output from these?

Hey man I'm a newbie just getting started again since the 80's and I don't plan on running a big OP like you but I purchased 2 WILLS 1000 Lights off Amazon and put them in my grow room... Man these lights are amazing after 2 weeks my plants had grown 8+ inches,,, 3 days ago I topped my 3 girls and took 5 more clippings from down lower used cloned gel and rapid router solution and placed them in water, man they are looking amazing showing signs of new growth and it looks like the 3 tops are already showing me Roots my mother plants have been fed with 20/20/20 Peters nuties room temp stays at 76 degrees Fahrenheit and humidity is kept at 73 to 78%. The Mars light are supposed to be awesome but the WILLS were cheaper and within my budget and according to my light meter they are perfect for our plants. Everything I purchased off AMAZON the light come with a 3 year warranty to me that is a + so check them out if you are still looking for a good set, they are dimmable and I run them on setting 9 they stay warm on the driver on a 18/6 timer, for now my clones are placed off to the side and out off the direct light O my room is 6ft by 12ft and with just the 2 lights in the back half off my room the brightness is amazing... Hope this helps man (grow proud)...

Spider farmer, king brite, or the spider farmer knock-off's on alibaba would be better options than mars. For a clone nursery I would suggest several smaller boards sized similar to the TS-2000 or SF-2000 spread out over the plants. I've noticed the SF-4000 is far too much power for small plants or clones. I initially have to reduce power to 50% and still cannot operate the board at full power in a 5'x5'x6.5' nursery tent without bleaching the foliage. I'm at 80% now and the plants are loving it. I feel you would get more value for your money spreading several smaller boards throughout the room rather than several large high powered boards. I'm not saying mars boards are bad. I'm saying there are better companies to spend your money with that do a better job of manufacturing quality equipment and offer a better value to the consumer than mars.

Don't buy mars or cheap Amazon crap, mh will be better....... If you're in the eu?, look at diyleduk. Good CS and can lead you down the right path at a fair price.

What kind of lamp do you use with your MH ballast? I have only used the cheap $30-$40 lamps with poor results. I actually yanked a 600w MH conversion lamp and 600w phantom ballast out of one of my nurseries due to poor growth and replaced it with a 450w quantum board yielding much better results. I would love to make MH work for me and figure out why I'm getting poor growth. I would prefer my 450w Q board be back in my flower room and the 600w MH back in my nursery. Help a brotha out here ;) Last time I looked at 600w hortilux MH comversion lamps the price tag was around $110, but if that's what makes 'em grow right it is what it is.

Why conversion bulb? Thought phantom is switchable?

I just realized I don't know my phantom as well as I thought I did :) I've traditionally only used T5's for vegetative growth and when I bought the phantom II ballast I did so with intentions of using it with a HPS lamp in my flower room. At that point using the ballast for veg wasn't even on my radar, so I was completely unaware the ballast was capable of running a standard MH lamp. You might have just cracked the problem here. Are those MH conversion lamps just garbage all around?

Hey guys never been fond of the Metal Halide lights used them back in the day allot off heat and power waste in my opinion, went with the W-1000 because of price, heat dissipation and energy savings... Gonna include some pics of my babies at 4.5 weeks under nothing but the W-1000's 18/6 schedule... Worked for me Happy growing guys and gals!!! 19865680-89B4-4176-89D9-7593D70A187F.jpegF826338C-7BE5-42DB-8BE2-6CCB246A68E0.jpeg762C0431-1440-4F07-B3E8-DB255CD263BB.jpeg

Good looking plants browesky. I agree on the power consumption, particularly when you're firing the light on a 18/6 vegetative light cycle. Then you have inline fans running to dump the heat. Shit adds up quick. I'm running my SF-4000 at about 350 watts with excellent results that I was unable to get out of the 600w MH lamp @60% power.

Your right man it'll get in your pocket quick and for the results I'm getting glad I went there way I did. Have to admit I didn't expect there results I'm getting for what I payed for these 2 light weight little lights when I installed them and flipped the switch I was surprised at the amount of light I got from them, I keep them at 20 inches above my plants and every day when I check on them I'm surprised at the growth from them...

You don't don't know that all 600W MH's are "Conversion" bulbs?

Look at the Ushio Opti Blue 600W Metal Halide. Great lamp. Produced more compact natural growth than the 600W Hortilux Blue.
Mothers 600W or Higher Metal Halide for max healthy cut production.
I have switch to T5 since I am maintaining all of my stock in smaller form :peace:

When I bought the W-1000 I didn't realize they had 4 rows of blue light in them with the others, I had to install a thermostat control unit on my 6 inch exhaust fan because it kept pulling the ambient temperature lower then I wanted, I thought they would put out more heat then they do the fan comes on about every 2 or 3 hours but only runs about 10 mins then back off, I have a 20 inch 3 speed fan that bounces of the ceiling stirring the air on the plants it seems to work good so far. This is my first time growing indoors...

Thanks for clarifying the details on the MH lamps and for the great recommendation. I'll try the Ushio Opti Blue 600W MH on my next batch of clones in one of my nurseries. I see some others getting great results with MH with their plants in veg. .Smoke has 1000W MH's blasting his ladies in his veg tents and has some stellar results. I want stellar results too :)

If your not afraid of the power bill a 1000W Ushio Opti Blue or 1000W Hortilux Blue is about as close to growing under sun as your going to get. In the Hortilux lamps the 1000W has a better veg spectrum then the 600 :peace:

They still make 600w magnetic mh ballasts;-)

"Two main types of MH grow light bulbs are commonly available to growers: 1) Standard metal halide bulbs, which must be operated on metal halide ballasts or digital ballasts, and 2) metal halide conversion bulbs which must be operated on standard high pressure sodium ballasts or digital ballasts."

Regardless haven't used HID since mag ballasts.... I'm rusty and kinda old too, so sue me ohd..... Prick

Horti blue does have a very nice spd, I used sylvania/Phillips on the cheap and could bulb swap regularly.
