LED or HPS???

Need some info. OK, I live where it's been unseasonal COLD and I been Vegging with LED's, big problem my grow tent never got over 68 degrees "not good" now it's time for flowering, I'm wondering if anyone would know if I could switch to HPS? I was thinking that maybe if I use the MH lamp awhile before going over to HPS may be a better idea! or is this not going to work. I tried raising the temp with a space heater but that sent my light bill to double and then some! I'm surprised the light company didn't question the bill. Please fellow growers I need some advice!!! or should I just stick with the LED and take the loss?

could add a small 150W or 250W HPS to the LEDs for heat and extra light, Im sure you won't regret it, might as well get some light out of the power used, will also give you nice night temperatures as low night temps do bring the best color out and if you run 68F now Im pretty sure you end up in the sweet spot around 74-78F when lights on

that is at least what I probably would do or buy a small oil radiator to heat the room the tent is in but agin that also use power and cost some, so no mater how you look at it you will have to spend money if you want to do some thing about it, and 68F is a bit low IMO

Just add a 135 watt cfl if your growing in a little space that will bring up the temps and help your yield.

Thanks Mr.Ganja, This sounds like the best answer of the 2 but I totally panicked and put the 400w HPS back in the tent, I did have the 140w UFO with it for couple weeks but now I just have the HPS. during the first week all 4 girls were looking then all of a sudden one of the girls had Balls ( A Hermie!!!) well that was the end of it's life, now 3 plants is actually all my tent can handle. my advice. don't waste your electric on a heater . if you have the lights laying around. just run them 24/7

He's starting the flower phase so that kinda doesn't help, ha..... but your right the OP should look into using AUTOS in the winter if he's set on using low power/heat light sources.

Also obviously run your lights at night...............heat mats work well on very little draw, warm roots is what matters most.

I like them cause they warm it up, shine like the yellow sun or HPS, yet they don't need ballast, and hang easily over tops.

the advantages of leds are huge and you can not compare yourself with other lighting systems, there is no comparison!
