LED questions

Hi all,
I have been looking into growing with LED lights. My question is with the blue/red/white LED combo. Will this one light support both veg and flower cycles. I have seen most people using either MH or HPS for veg and flower but have not seen much about LED. Thank you guys for your input.

I was just about to post a similer thread, so although I offer no solution to you decep, I will ad a few questions and give the thread a bump.

Can anyone recommend a site to buy affordable LEDs?

what is the equivalent of a 1000w hps in LED?

What PERSONAL experience do you have with LED and what can you recommend?

Links are always appreciated

the chart is very helpful but that obo place seems to only be toys and desk lamps, nothing you'd want to use for growing unless I'm mistaken.

Well they don't seem to have much over 10W lights. But there cheaply priced for LED's. I noticed there is a big price jump from 10 to 13 to 17 watts. Like a 100$ jump.
When three 7 watt LED is like 30$.
The LED Grow lights are charging for their purpose or name. It's robbery.

LED's are available in different Kelvin too :D

Often seen as:
Warm White: typically from 2600 Kelvin to 3500 Kelvin
Natural White: typically from 4000 Kelvin to 4500 Kelvin
Daylight White: typically from 5000 Kelvin to 5500 Kelvin
Commercial or Cool White: typically above 6000 Kelvin

It depends. There are also LED strips that available in warm white

those packs arent worth a shit. if you are going LED and want anything comparable, you have to dish out some money.

i have 2 of these i use for added spectrum http://www.htgsupply.com/Product-6-Band-240w-LED-Vegetative-Grow-Light.asp

and would still go with 2 more to cover the same amount as my 1000W HPS. yield will not be comparable per plant.
but if you were to grab 8 of them, and spread them out over more plants you would have a higher coverage than HPS, lower wattage, and yield more overall. (with everything dialed in)

upfront costs are A LOT, but you have to ask yourself if its worth it to you or not.

Still fucken robbery. It costs less than Half that to put it together yourself if you can solder. 3 Watt diodes go for like .40-.60 cents each...
To get 240 Watts you'd need 80 chips. that's 48 dollars...

so 4 of those roughly equal 1000w hps?
No, four of those would be 1000W of LED. Use the chart I posted to get the equivalent.
Roughly 1600W for the HPS

yeah, love them for veg, for flower I do have a panel hanging on each side of the 1kw hps.

especially when you consider 4 of those don't add up to 1000 watts, advertised wattage and actual wattage aren't the same.

From what I understand they're pretty good for mixing with other lights. But I haven't heard much on full LED grows.
And I am not the one who says they put on more watts than HPS...

and diy if you're paying 40 cents a diode well, you get what you pay for. good name brand diodes will run you 5 bucks apiece.
