ok i'm trying to work a deal with the wife so i can build me some led lights. she said ok as long as i made her some for her plants. the question is where to get the housings like are used on the store bought led grow lights? i have tried searching on line but haven't found anything, and may have worded it wrong. i don't care what mine look like as they will only be seen by me, but the wife's will be in view. thanks in advance. peace

Onyx sells their housings which would be a nice polished look. There are quite a few approaches in the DIY thread as well.

Depends greatly on what style of heatsink you want to use. Most of them just bend thin aluminum or steel to fit their sink.

One idea is to use electrical raceway like rives on icmag.

Or you could get think aluminum plate, angle stock, and build a small frame around the heatsink. If you have the tools.

A server 1U chassis could work with a little modification.

Lots of options really.

Hammond Makes aluminum enclosures www.hammondmfg.com they can customize some models but it's pricey. I would try to find a local business that has the machinery and could cut them to your specs. Tell them it's a lighting panel for photography or stage lighting.

if i had the brake i would do it myself, i'm a metal worker by trade (machinist and iron worker) i was just trying to save some time on premade enclosures.
