light movers

i know the benefits of a light mover. the question i have, is why are they all 6 FT movers? i think a 2 Ft mover, for the smaller grows, or in my case, a 3 FT MOVER. i am looking at a room i am designing, that is 6 Ft by 15Ft. i want to put 1 3 Ft mover in 1 ens, the 6 Ft across side, then 1 stationary 600 HPS, then a 3 fT MOVER, THEN A STATIONARY. (HATE CAP LOCK, GOT PHAT PHINGERS)1 light every 2 Ft for a total of 9 600 Wt'ers, in 90 Sq Ft, but i cant find a 3 Ft light mover anywhere. not even in the DIY pages. any help would be a great help. it might even earn you a visit when done.

I don't see a problem, but I also don't see the logic. The movers track may be 6', but it has adjustable stops, so one 3' light span is easy. Also, you can just cut the track down into two 3' individual tracks. Track lighting has a LOT of benefits over stationary,IE; better light penetration, the lite can be closer to the plant without burning, and also more lite coverage. Why track-stationary-track etc? You may want to consider using two lites per track. I just completed an 11 plant set-up from clones, using one 1,000 watt HPS on 6' track. Big piles of buds. I made a list of mistakes- Live & learn. Private me if interested in the "don't s" Good luck Dude.

thank you for your answer. the last track i bought was12 years ago, then i "retired" to drive truck. now that i need to start chemo, i am going to reopen a few old boxes, and come out of retirement legally. (i live in cali) the reason i want to stagger them is cuz 1 light will mostly cover the area it is over, but i want 1 in between the stationary 1's to cover the back walls, and corners, to fully maximize the lighting. it is an idea, if we never try out ideas, we never learn anything new, right? and the more i think on it, my grow room might not let me go 6 Ft wide/deep. i might have to go 5x15. and i am not much or ado-it-yourselfer.i would rather have a prebuilt 3 Fter or 4 Fter. but a 4 Fter might bump walls, if i got to stay within a5x15 room.

and a 15 Ft long room, 9 lights, is 1 every 1.666666 Ft. so it is to fill in the darker spots. i dont have to worry about them colliding, cuz the 1's on the movers will be about 18 In lower then the stationary 1's.

if i dont do this without movers, i will have to almost double up my lights to cover 75 Sq ft fully, without as many dark spots in corners. this way i get the most out of my area i set aside, and also try to save a bit of power in same move.

5 X 15 or 6 X 15. Sounds perfect. Sorry about the chemo thing. Four lights sounds like a lot of cost..., that's what confused me. How about this plan of attack. (It's what I did). I laid black plastic on the floor & taped it down. Then laid mylar over the black plastic, which is really cool since it reflected light upwards. Then mylar on 3 sides, four ft. up the wall. One 12' ft. track (in your case) with one or two lights on the mover. The mylar reflects 98% of the light, no more dark corners. Temp walls on one side ( I used 2' X 4' wire racks tied together which could be moved back as the plants got bigger) covered with mylar, only 3" inches away from the row of plants. Does this make any sense? Good Luck.

yes, kind of. but i want my lights to move front to back, the 6Ft direction. and only move 3 to 4 Ft. it will have 1 light every 2 Ft, 1 stationary, 1 on a mover, next stationary, next on mover. 7 lights, 600 Wt each.that is1 stationary light for a 5x5 or 5x6 light, and a moving 1 on each side to prevent all shading. the 2 end lights, on each end will be a moving 1. but i cant find a 3 or 4 Ft light mover. they are all 6 Fters. it is a great market, little 1 Ft movers for closets, to get better light in closets. 2 Fters for the little grow cabinets.

it is a GREAT IDEA for you DIY guys. custom light movers, they orders by size, and weight limits.
