Hey, first time poster here.

This will be my first experience growing indoors and I want the best I can get for the price/quality ratio so budget isn't too much of an issue.

Heat however is an issue. It's the summertime and I'll be growing 1-2 plants in a small closet without much ventilation other than a fan.

Any help at all is greatly appreciated, also online links would be helpful as I live hours away from a hardware store.

That's rough.. it's pretty much next to impossible with out good ventilation. I wish I had a better answer for ya.. You're trying to make a little bit of mother nature in there.. that's light, water, and air.. those are the big three..

i just shut mine down cause of heat harvested 10 grams had a 400hps in a 2-3-6 closet with a blower sucking air out through the light and dual 9 inch fans sept. ill start it again i live in a hot tni trailer lol

If it's only a couple of plants in a small place and heat is a factor, I would go with a T5 fluorescent setup. Next to no heat. You may be able to get away with one of those 150watt HPS lights too.

Since you said budget isn't the issue, if the closet can fit it, I would go with the 4 foot 4 tube T5. 20,000 lumens instead of 6800 for only around $60 more. I use this one for vegging and have been more than happy with it (I use the SunBlaze 2' x 2 tube unit for seedlings/clones too).
