a really good way to get heat away from the light, is to use an enclosed reflector or even just a reflector with a hole in the side... then you get a bathroom fan and some ducting and suck the air away with the fan... its very effective... is keeps the light cool the the touch.. at least how I do it... I have one fan venting out of the room, one venting fresh air in, and one blowing on the actual ballast itself... it works wonderously...

well.. the easiest way is to duct tape them to cardboard... all you have to do is hook up the tubes and blow the air out.. its really easy once you get the parts for it.. just remember.. you dont want to blow air on the light.. you want to suck air away... all cold is, is just the absence of heat.. take away heat and you have cold... plain and simple...

look at other peoples setup.. you will see how its done

haha.. no.. you just buy the bathroom fan and use that.. it is a metal box with a fan in it, and it has a regular plug, su you just run an extention cord out of it... there will be a place to hook up a vent...

they look like this:
CLEVER 70 CFM Bathroom Ceiling Ventilation Exhaust Fan - (eBay item 130175665964 end time Nov-25-07 17:24:56 PST)

but that is a very expensive one... but that is how they look.. see the nozzle to hook up ducting? that is where it goes, and that vent the air outside...

go to home depot, and but 20 ft of ducting (the cheapest they got, its in a small box.. ask for it.. ), duct tape, and a cheap bathroom fan that flows at least 50 CFM of air..

the you use that to suck the air away from the light bulb, thus keeping heat away, and allowing you to put the light closer to the plants...
