little black spikes on sugar leaves

so i have noticed some black spikes on some of my sugar leaves. they are in the same places trichs are however the stem is black and there is no ball on the tip. i didnt know if this was some type of fungus or just a sign of maturation. any and all feedback is greatly appreciated!
