(AP) -- ARCADA TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Drug agents conducting an aerial search in Gratiot County have found six marijuana plants growing outside a day care center. Prosecutor Keith Kushion says state police and the Mid-Michigan Area Group Narcotics Enforcement Team spotted the plants in August.

Police got a search warrant for the site in Arcada Township, about 100 miles northwest of Detroit. They found more marijuana and an unlocked box containing a gun with a bullet in the chamber.

A 25-year-old man who lives at the house where his mother runs a day care center has been arrested and faces felony drug charges. He was expected to be arraigned Friday.

Kushion tells the Morning Sun of Mount Pleasant the suspect's mother says she knew nothing about the drugs or gun and isn't being charged.

This guy was a dumbass. Growing cannabis without sufficient cover is dumb enough as it is. But doing it at your parents house, especially a parent who earns money watching children, is just retarded. He was risking his parents freedom and property by growing out in the open like that. The parents will suffer business-wise too, the parents are going to withdraw their children after they discover cannabis was growing where their chldren played. I refrained from growing at my parents house for years because of this.
