MAX: 60 watts type G

So this bathroom vanity lighting fixture I am using has a rating per input of 60w (type G bulb).

Are CFL's type G?

And would 5 watts over really make much of a difference? Say a 42w split with a 23w?

I do understand the word max is short for maximum meaning the most amount the device can safely perform at. But, I mean it's 5 measly watts. I have these extra splitters and bulbs laying around so I may as well use em up.

I do have some 13w bulbs too.

Watts is power dissipation.
Those sockets are rated at 60Watts because at 65 Watts it *should* rise to a specific temp with a standard incandescent bulb.

Keep the socket cool enough and you can probably get away with 250watts. Not sure how you could keep it cool enough for that.

But as per the 5 watts, doubt it wold be a prob. but if it is, the insurance company may not pay out if there is a fire.

I realy think u should consider spending 20-30bux on some better cfls , like 60watt cfls puting out 4,900 lumens is starting to be alright to grow with...

Trust me, if I did not have to order them I would already own them.

Thanks for all of the replies. I have fans going 24/7 so it should be cool enough to run 5 watts over.

I am also using a 4 light bathroom fixture. Does yours also have the 60w warning on it?

Basically you are using the set up I want to do. I'm 3 Y splitters and 2 bulbs away.
