when misting, does one mist the actual boomers or just the walls and the perlite? also bonus, would it be better to use spring water rather than distilled because of the minerals?

If you have the proper air exchange than it isn't a problem misting your caps. Otherwise - get the proper air exchange, it is far more important than misting.

the minerals don't make any difference at all.

How much should I mist the cakes? I actually and in the same boat right now.

How much light is required? I have my shotgun fruiting chamber in my loft and it has a decent sized window and gets a little light during the day. It is defiantly indirect light though.

A millisecond or two is enough to trigger fruit, you will need more if you wish to train your fruit to grow upward.
