My First Setup!

This is my setup, I made a 2x2ft. 4ft. tall grow box out of wood with door and all.Got the walls, floor, and ceiling of growbox covered in foil with two to three plants soon to be inside! I will have two 6500k(blue) CFL's on the plants for vegetative stage and two 2700(red) CFL's on the plant for flowering.I will keep the plants on a 24/0 light schedule for about the first few weeks and then switch to 18/8 light schedule for the rest of vegging. And when ready to flower 12/12 light schedule with 2700(red). I also have a temp/humidity guage and a fan built into the growbox for ventillation, I also have a heater/humidifier built in to the growbox!!! Got lights on a timer. any suggestions or criticism will be appreciated!

basically you got a good set up there i would only suggested that you kick out the heater/humidifier since it will hardly needed if you not happen to be in Alaska and the tin foil. the tin foil is a bad reflector and creats heat spots which burn your plant. get some fan into your box and set up some ventilation and maybe some more light, more cfls and maybe a little hps for the flowering, but this will get you into a heat issue with our tinny box too. problem is that cfls are not the best choice for flowering, i tried it too with them and the harvest was like mexican shit weed, so it really sucked for six month of work and power

paint the box white, flat, non glossy white. this will give you a way better light reflection then the tin foil and no heat spots

Do hps light make enough of a difference in quality that it would be worth investing in?

Also do hps lights usually bring a bigger yield than cpl's

if you want to compare the difference in yield between a grow only with cfls vs. cfls + hps, huge sure, it can be done with a shitload of cfls too, but hps lights are more efficient on the watt you put in. it is comparing a 1/4oz with a 1/4lb, and the weed has potency with a hps, grown with 2-3 cfls you may better smoke your newspaper

Well shit man I appreciate that bit of advice cause i was gonna use CFL to flower and the reason I started growing was to get away from that bunk ass mexican weed!!!! THANKS!!

this is just not true, hid system do work better then cfls and are really more practical too but its not like cfls are the scum of the earth. u can grow very fine frosty nugs with cfls that would make anyone happy. u wont yeild as much but when it comes to good smoke roll it on up sir!

sure, but growing with 2-4cfls will not get much yield, grow hps sys start at 250W about and get a hell lot more, about that ratio. and to potency it is the same. i tried it and it was a wast of time, equal limited set up as he will use...
