My new light, NOOOOO!

I just got a brand new 1000 watt hps and pluged it in, ballast is humming but no light. It has been on for about 10 minutes now and still the bulb is totally off. Great!

Are you sure that the ballast for1000 watts also? Is it MH or HPS ballast, there is a difference...Doble check everything and than try to plug it in to a circuit with no other load on it...

Check your fuses. Make sure they are tight, new, and secured with the right kw. May be the problem. Large wt ballasts tend to blow more fuses on normal/standard house fuse boxes. :/

check to make sure you screwed the bulb in all the way. also, make sure you didn't touch the bulb with you bare hands. if you did, wipe it down before you use it.

I touched it with plastic bags over my hands. I took it out and put it back and still nothing. I think it may be a bad bulb. They are sending me a new one.
