My weed doesnt really smell...?

Kinda new to smoking. Just got some weed from someone and I've realized that there really isn't that strong of a smell too it. It's not that shitty...was kinda bricked...but still a mid..paid $30 for 4.5g so I can't really complain. I still get high off it like anything else, but thought that was weird.

Does the smell have to do with the quality? Higher quality higher smell? Potency? Anything?

yeah, usually smell indicates more potent buds but I've smoked weed that did'nt really smell and got high off it..i don't know why tho.

its prob just old and wasn't stored properly,after a while the smell goes away.

I find that the more potent the smell is the more potent the weed is.. but I could be wrong. In my experience, that's usually the case.
