N-P-K value of pearlite?

I wanted to experiment a bit with my soil this year and Im not sure If Im doing more good or harm. I bought some organit potting mix and mixed it 1/2 and 1/2 with soil from the garden. Once I had that mix done I added about 1/3 pearlite to give it better drainage. Should I have done this? I didnt realize that the pearlite even had a N-P-K value untill after I had already mixed it. I thought it was simply for drainage.

'I've seen some perlite presaturated in nutrients. Most is not - I would recommend checking to see if any NPK value is mentioned on your bag of perlite.

Yeah, it is mentioned on the bag. its .04-.1-.06. But thats a low enough value that Im not going to burn my new plants or anything am I? Lol! I havent planted yet. I ordered my seeds today but Ive had the box running empty for a week now and I mixed the soil 2 days ago so theres no plants to worry about. I just want everything to be in order when I start.

ya most perlite doesn't have nute and those measurement you posted are prob micro level shite for probably startin seeds in straight perlite. you soil mix sounds good as long as the soil you got out of your yard is decent. you sound like your off to a good start most cannabis is very hardy and can handle alot of mistake new, old, smart and retarded growers seem to make you'll do fine i'm sure

Yeah dude, I wouldn't worry about that little ratio of nutrients in your perlite. It will just be a nice additive for your soil.

You must have the miracle grow perlite, complete with miracle grow nutes
If thats the case I'd check to make sure it's all organic. Miracle grow doesn't have a good record of that. Although I see that they do now have an organic soil out.

Thanks guys. Both the mix and the perlite are MG. The potting mix is "organic" but the perlite is "enriched with MG nutrients". I bought some little palm grass plants to test run my box and get the feel for watering again before my beans get here and they are doing great.

Where do you find/buy perlite? I've looked everywhere, two main nurseries don't have it. Local OSH has it, but it's medium to fine and I need coarse.. The MG crap is available everywhere but they load it with fertilizers.... BS

Just don't load up too heavy on the perlite and the nutes in the perlite shouldnt mess with the plants :)

If no local places have perlite you can get it from various places online. Planet Natural always has it. I've ordered stuff from them multiple times with great results. Also try Amazon. They have it too.

I find it in a local home store similar to Home Depot, Any Garden center will also probobly carry it and some larger pet stores will also sometimes have it and Vermiculite.

Very bold statement, ESPECIALLY in the organics section!

I'm going to have to disagree though. MG is toxic sludge and should be avoided. Fox Farm has toxins in it, but it will surely "out perform" MG any day. And FF isn't even organic!
