Need starting advice please

Goal: 5 pounds minimum of feminized cheese.

I will admit it's my first time grow, so im sure ill run into mistakes, but I have been doing some extensive reading (and watching of videos), and I believe I can handle all the tasks.

So I was hoping for some specifics that anyone could help me with (since by reading you can only determine approximations)

-----------------------------------------------

I am looking to prepare a 10x10 (100 sq foot) area. Is this enough?

I was thinking about ordering 50+ feminized seeds, but from the reading I have been doing, can this be a huge waste of money? Is there no way to justify this method over growing a few initial plants then using clones (which would obviously take much longer than I want it to)

--------------------------------------

How should I set up the lights? I found these 600 watt switchable lamps (MH and HPS) for optimal growing/flowering. Is it necessary though.. and how many would I need for this particular plant.

Oh... and what is the best way to space out this plant during the various phases?

These are some initial questions.. more to follow later.

Thanks to anyone who helps.

You definitely won't need 50 seeds.

Growing a mother will take you a month or longer to get the amount of clones you want, which you will then have to veg for at least like 3 wks to a month before you start flowering. So it will probably take an extra month if you clone a mother instead of using 50 seeds, but you can plant like 10 seeds to make 2 mothers and clone the shit out of them in a seperate area while you flower the other 8 to get a smaller harvest on time and then your main harvest later... or however you want to do it. But 1 seed can be 1000 plants.

A 600w roughly accomodates 4'x4' so in a 10'x10' room you could squeeze 4 of them in. You may need a little more space for seperate chambers, but maybe not. I think 100sq ft is plenty for 5lb

seedling phase - keep the lights close with good spread. This is key in order to keep them from stretching too much. If you go with 50 seeds for ease, use a rapid rooter tray with 50 plugs, and then you can plant the plugs into hydro or soil after a wk or 2.

veg phase - same as seedling phase with bigger plants
flowering - righton righton, start bending and tying plants around out of the way so the light can spread as best as possible to achieve maximum yields.

Sounds good so far...

So another question:

With 4x600 watts and the intake/outake, etc.. what kind of atmosphere control unit am i looking for? How do I make sure I have enough amps to run everything properly risk-free?

I don't overly agree with with the above coz.............Of course you can start from seed its not a problem but of course knowing what seeds you actualy have will affect your yeild.............But under a hydro set up your looking at yeilding around a oz per plant on a good grow.......so doing some maths.........5 albies is 80 plants and thats on a good grow for your 10 by 10 area.........then there is lights........Forget about area........Ya work off 100W per plant.....So a 400W does 4 plants.......So really I'd be sugesting 100 plants from unknown bagseed and will that work out to 10 1000W HPS lights...........My suggestion is a Stadium grow for you..........There is plenty of info on stadium grows here.........This will cut down the amount of lights ya need.............Its doable..Bud

OK stadium grow looks appropriate. Im not understanding how to properly keep the room cool enough though since you can't hook up ducts to the lights. Suggestions?

You will have to get ventable hoods and even still you may need a portable a/c.

Can I use my 1000 watt bulbs (whether it be mh or hps) for vegitation starting at seedlings?

Seems that I might burn them, but if I keep enough distance (how much?) should it be ok?

Or do I need to get entirely different lights like fluorescents for early veg?

And Hydro: in my setup i dont think i can use ventable hoods?
