New Grow Room Setup....

Hi all, I've been lurking here for a few weeks now trying to soak up as much as I can about what has worked for people so that I can design my own new setup. I grew SOG about 12 years or so ago.....fairly small setup under a 400w that was mostly for my own and my room mates head. I never wieghed my herb so not sure what my yields were.....it was almost enough for my friend and to have constant smoke though...

Anyways, right now I am planning on creating a new setup mostly for me and my wife. We smoke a couple of Zs a month...and it would be nice to be able to kick some good smoke down to some friends here and there as long as there is herb enough to share.

So...what I'm thinking of doing is setting up roughly a 4x4x6 grow space in my basement. (I could do attic also....but basement seems better for stealth and cooling reasons). Probably going to outfit the flower room with a 600w hps and have a second smaller room running some T5 lighting for clones and vegging. Does all this sound reasonable? Not sure if I need to grow SOG or SCROG in this setup in order to have enough to smoke.

Any feedback appreciated...

Welcome to the forum. Its kinda like makin luv, once you do it you don't forget how. The difference would be twice the lumens from the 600 watt compared with the 400 watt you used to have. Did you do a perpetual grow back then? VV

Hi! Thanks for writing back! Hehe, yeah as I've been reading forums I am rememberig much of what I did with my old setup. Yes, it was a continuous harvest....cloned one female I was really happy with and kept the clones in a second closet with some florescents. Usually vegged them for about three weeks or so before I'd move them under my 400w. I think I was harvesting every 4-6 weeks....but again it is a little fuzzy. I've smoked bushels of herb since then. Hehe.
Yeah, basically I'm getting tired of having to shell out serious green in order to get some serious green. That....and I really miss growing.....it was always nice to just hang out with the plants. Of course the free smoke made it all worth while. I've been a little nervous about the legal risks.....but I think I can keep it low key. I won't be selling any.....I would however love to have an abundance of the green stuff so my wife and I can smoke our fill....and still have plenty to share. My father in law just moved into the area.....he smokes more than my wife and I combined. Not sure if I'll be growing enough to keep him set as well.....but again, I'm not looking to start up any large scale operation......
