New Member / Old Soil Grower

Hello!

I'm a basement soil grower doing the perpetual harvest thing. A few plants into 12/12 with a few harvested each week for almost 5 years now.

On-line communities of marijuana growers have made me nervous, but I've decided to give this one a go. I hope to make some other knowledgeable marijuana growing friends and maybe help out some folks that are new to the hobby.

Soil sucks, as does the perpetual harvest scenario. I'm tied to the house and can't get away for more than a day at a time. It's time for a change and I'll be making it soon.

It is the transition that I have had to really plan around. The plants that get pulled this week will not get replaced and work will begin on making space for the new set up. It makes me nervous because I have to make sure that there will be no production hiccups.

I appreciate the opportunity to introduce myself and am looking forward to meeting folks. I'd love it if someone would point me to threads, posts that let me know more about rollitup.org (history, etc).

Welcome to the forum. What are you going to change to that allows more freedom than a soil grow, or are you just considering harvesting more a a time? I know there is a page that tells when rollitup started, I joined in Sept 2006. I visit a few other forums, this is the one I like best for information on growing. Start a journal, include pictures please, we like pictures. VV

I don't know what the name of the new set up is; I'll have to ask what I'm buying when I hit the grow store. It's hydro, kind of, but uses a "soiless medium" in approximately 16 square foot trays. I'll check out some journals here and find out what it's called. I've been looking at it for the last 6 months every time I hit the grow store, but never thought to ask.

Hopefully I'll have all the components by the end of the week and can start transitioning. My goal is to harvest all at one time instead of the weekly thing I've been doing.

I'll get the camera batteries charged up and start clicking away. Thanks for the welcome!

greetings and Salutations fellow dirt person! I live and grow in an unheated basement. (long story) my growroom is heated with my dehumidifier's exhaust channelled thru a box fan, see? it is a crude gorilla setup, but it's working. I am in my 12th day of flowering, so dirt and tubed flouros really do work. they may take a tad longer due to the flouros but they are growing. This site is one of the best, i am on a few others, but I always come 'home' here. The'growfaqs' is very informative as are the grow vids. the growrooms keep me on my toes, from a warehouse to a kitchen cupboard, all types exist. from mine (which cost me under $100) to rooms where thousands have been spent. look around ask questions post afew pics, if you encounter any prob. we'll be gladto help...welcome and stay green:mrgreen:

Sounds like flood and drain or drip, 4' By 4' trays. Several builds of the hydro systems are posted in FAQ upperleft, second box at the top of the page. I found it helpful to pick up a big general catalog from the hydro shop. And of course watch the systems in action if you can. VV
