Newbie Mistake?

I think I started counting my days of flowering too early by starting from when I flipped to 12/12 instead of when the first flowers formed, and its going to affect my yield. I'm at 5 weeks and have pretty small buds. Should I just add on another week of flowering to my feeding schedule? I realize its a hard question to answer without pics, but heres some info to help: Strain is Shark Shock from Mr Nice, Nutes are House & Garden, medium is soilless mix. It just seems most pics i've seen of buds at 5 weeks are about the size of a bic lighter while mine are little round balls of white pistils. Any advice is much appreciated

it doesnt really matter... the reccomended weeks of flowering are just guidlines. go until your trichomes are cloudy and starting to turn amber and dont worry as long as you have enough light your buds should start swelling up in the last couple weeks of flowering

Thanks for the reply; I bought a scope to check the trichomes when harvesting comes around, but i'm just concerned I'm not going to be feeding them correctly. I don't know if I should just continue with the schedule they're on, or add a week. The plants look very healthy, just lacking in the bud department

Five weeks is not much, most indicas take 8 to 9 wks, sativas take 10 to 12 and like bbvc said the flowering time a breeder gives is just a guess depending on optimal conditions.

This is five weeks! My strain may be different but...harvest by the color of the tricome's not the size of the bud or you will loose over 20% total yield!! Substantial when your just starting!! jacklook around!Fifth week flower.jpg

Thats what makes me worry! I'm five weeks in on a strain thats supposedly 56-60 days and have nothing close to buds like that. I have plenty of bud sites, they're just small Do plants put on a lot of weight towards the end? I don't know if I should modify my feed schedule or just keep going since the plants are otherwise completely healthy

MY FRIEND You are not correct on your time or the timming of the pheno you are growing wait tell you can see cloudy tricome's with some amber!! get a small 40 power magnifier and look!! You will be fine don't rush and be sure!! It will show sign's of dying!! Leaf's falling off turning yellow in drove's ect...Be patient and you will be rewarded!!!

I have the scope and theres only a very few extremely small clear trichomes, i'm familiar with the right time to harvest. I just thought the buds would be larger at this point. Maybe they'll surprise me and start packing on some weight in the next few weeks, or maybe my grow technique needs a major overhaul. I just figured healthy plants would produce something by this point in the flowering cycle

Thanks a lot! That eases my mind knowing they'll start to do something when they're ready. I guess I just have to keep doing whatever makes them happy until its time to cut them down
