Nice. What space are you using? Are you going to use the 400w for the 2 plants the whole grow. Also what type of light is it you just said it was a 400w.

If you do use the 400w for 2 plant only and flower in a smallish space, that is a very good idea a you should end you with some high qaulity buds.

Also remember if your only doing 2 plants you might need to veg for longer to fill out you space and take your time don't rush the extra veg time really really helps yield.

It will help if you put a desk fan in the tent just so it blows across the canopy, you want your leaves to be rustling slightly - just a weak fan to give a slight breeze will do the job.

And is there anyway you can put your reservoir outside your tent as this will help utilise your space much much better. And then you can place your light in the middle of the tent and put plants directly under and then you still have plenty space for plants to grow outwards

I have them in a hydro 2x4 tent space . I'm using a 400 watt MH for veg and I will be switching to HPS for bloom . I only have 2 plants in there ATM , I want to veg for at least 8 weeks maybe longer to fill out tent then I'll change to 12/12 . I am currently have problems with RES temps hard to keep cool .

ok first of when you put you plants in flower it would be a very good idea to try start vegging some more plants, as you seem to like the idea of fewer plants (like me) so with fewer plant you need longer veg time to achieve the same yeild. so while you wait 8 weeks+ for flowering the plants you are vegging should be ready.

Anyway to keep reservoir temps down you can invest in a water chiller, or a even better idea get a bigger reservoir. A bigger reservoir will mean its easier to control temperature, pH and ppm fluctuations, meaning you wont have to check as often for any problems, for instance when i go to work for the day then come back home its been atleast 6 hours in that time my pH , ppm and temps could have all changed unless i have a big reservoir which i do lol

With an 8 week veg those plants will be monsters . Not sure what kinda height you have? They will explode with growth when you flip them . You may want to keep that in mind.

It's my first hydro grow . How long should I veg ? I was trying to use all the space in the tent before I switch to 12/12 On all the forums I read they say to veg for at least 8 weeks to build for a bigger yield so that's what I am going for . One more question , how high should the lights be from plants ? I have them at 20-24 in. above plants
is that too far for 400 watt ?

I would flip them somewhere between 12 and 18 inches. They will explode with growth in first couple of weeks. You will need to train keep tucking them under your screen for fist few weeks while they stretch out. If you never done hydro before you gonna be in for a treat . :-PWhen I ran 400 watt lights I would keep them about a foot above canapy .

well I would stop reading whatever forums that are telling you to veg for 8 weeks in hydro, your plants will grow 3-5 times their size once you flip to 12/12, so unless you have the worlds only 10 ft tall grow tent then I'd listen to savanna. My scrog screen is set 10 inches above my waterfarm and I fully expect my plant to be 3-4 feet tall by the end (including sideways growth under the screen) that's with a 3 week veg.

BTW BlueBlazer, my grow space is a 4 foot wide, 20 inch deep 6 foot tall cabinet, and I fill that with 1 plant with less than a months veg (I use only 3 feet of the 4 foot wide, I don't go to the edges for the sake of air flow). If you veg for 8 weeks in a 2x4x6 foot tent, with 2 plants in hydro, scrog screen or not you will run out of room in every direction before your half way done.

Thanks I will keep it in mind when its time to switch . When would it be best to switch to bloom. ? The plants are about 4-5 weeks old now about a foot tall. I would like to stretch just a bit more then I'll flip the switch

I flip to 12/12 when my plant hits the screen at about a foot tall, and then start weaving. Like I said your plant will grow between 3-5 times it's veg size during the first month of flower. You a have finite of amount space, you must keep enough room from your plants to your light, maintain good airflow and give the individual colas room to grow and get light to your leaves. I try for 16 square inches per cola (that's a 4 inch square) and gives me enough room for 4 rows of 8, in a perfect world that is. I usually end up with a cola count around 25. Read this thread if you want to see how it's done right https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/344359-pineapple-express-g13-labs-seed.html

And here's how my ladies look as of today the one on the left is about 4 weeks and the other one is about 5 weeks in its a week behind because I caught a male early in the grow before it was too late . Anyways here's how they look 1200 ppm 5.5-5.8 pH. I'm using Dutch Master Gold Range Nutrient line part A , B
2 more weeks until I make the big flip to 12/12
wish me luck

You definitely need to have some good luck, because I don't even think I'd call that a scrog net, maybe if you were trying to scrog banana trees lol. I don't know what that is but it's openings are comically huge, and useless for the purpose of training your plants. For example, I use 2 inch chicken wire from Lowes, where as yours looks more like a commercial tuna net.

How big the squares are does'nt bother me it's a trellis netting that I bought from a hydro shop I bought a while back . The plants are still a few inches under the net so I think it will be fine .
