Not another power consumption Q

Hello all. I have been a lurker here for awhile and have decided to get back into growing after seeing and reading everyones triumphs and tragedies with their own grows. It has been a few years since my last grow, all outdoor, but grew for many years before my daughter came along.

I live in a neighborhood where power usage is monitored closely by LEO and the utility company. I am looking for ways to make my usage less suspicious in both consumption and pattern.

I see that Lumatek has dual 600 watt E-ballasts which run (2) lamps at once. I am assuming that this means that the maximum power used is 600 watts. Can someone explain how these units can power 2 lamps using the same amount of power?

I will buy my clones fully veged and about 12-14" tall and will only be needing Flowering rooms. I have two areas set up intend to use use a flip flop and (2) 600 watt dual E-ballasts which would give me 2400 watts in each room. Does anyone know if it is bad for an E- ballast to be connected to a flip flop?

I would like to use the flip flop so that there isn't a pattern of 12/12 showing up. Thanks for taking the time to help and old newbie out!

I'm almost certain the dual 600 Lumateks consume 1200w. They're essentially a pair of 600 watters in one enclosure.

I was at first thinking it had to be 1200 watts too but then I got so :joint::? I convinced myself otherwise. Makes sense or I guess everyone would have a few. Hopefully its true that theres no dumb questions. Anyone use a E-ballast with a flip?
