I think the rule of thumb is usually less than what the label says. I think a lot of people here will agree that usually 1/4 of the amount indicated on the product is nomally enough for the plant, otherwise you run the risk of burning it.

Yea what he said about 1/4 strength on the nutes. I just wait and feed my when they say they need it. So far I've been doing good like that. Just started my grow journal, go take a look. I have only fed them twice and a very very small amount when fed.

it will depend alot on the percentage of nutes in your fertilizer. Some organic ferts are 2-1-1 and so can be fed at full strength without much worry of overfeeding, where some read 24-20-20 (and even much higher) and should be given at less than the recommended dose. It can be a tough thing to figure out but the general rule is that "less is more." In my first batch I fed early on at 75% the recomm. and the nutes were 24-5-10. Turns out that was overfeeding a few weeks into veg. I flushed and waited several weeks before feeding again and then they showed signs of nitrogen deficiency. Whatever nutes you are using be patient, go slowly and pay attention to what your doing so that you'll have a starting point if changes are needed. How much and how often to feed I've found for me to be the most difficult aspect of growing.
