Oh how nature does it . . . rooting hormone

Don't know if any one has posted it or not, but you can make organic rooting hormone for clones and such very easily. stumbled on it looking for info about tomato cuttings:

"""To make rooting hormone soak the yellow-tipped shoots of a weeping willow tree in water. A tea made from the bark of a willow tree is also effective. When using the shoots or bark soak them for 24 hours prior to using."""

why use chemicals and processed solutions when the natural world already has something. All we have to do is find it . . . .

peace and happy tokin

ps. other natural tricks?

i have read about it in the organic RODALE book of gardening. Big book, dont need it tho. Soil food web is better reading. But, get the willow tree and cut up the tree branches into one inch peices. Put them in a jar then cover them with an inch of water. The water should change color. The next day it should be ok. Same stuff as aspirin too. :)

yo-you dont need any rooting gels and powders-i always put mine in a dark glass, filled with clean water and but them in a humidity dome(home made shit-one is a cake cover and others are 2 l coke bottles) and mist them 2 a day.after 3-4 weeks new roots should emerge.oh-and some of them i put on the second week to soaked pellets-works always 4 me:):):)

Yeah but for $0.24 I can get my roots in 3-4 days rather than 3-4 weeks.

Look into Rapid Rooters :)

I make that same stuff myself in GT... If you do quantities, pick yourself up some ZEBA. Then you can mix it any way you like.

For what it's worth, I tried the dark glass of water method grow space mentioned, but I also made a few cuts into the stalk. It was taking FOREVER- I saw a can of cloning solution at the store and dipped it in that and put it into a small planter and it started wilting the next day. I left it alone for three days and it wasn't improving, so I panicked and put it back into a cup of water...Today I have roots coming, where I made the tiny slices on the stem. Whew!
