Old School Strains Where to Find them?

I’ve been interested in trying to find some real old school strains like the real Panama Red, Skunk#1, Afghani #1 etc, or at least something close to them.
Honestly In the future I want to try and hunt down some landrace strains and possibly breed and make some strains myself. I don’t really know jackshit about breedingbut it definitely is something im interested in as a hobby I guess.

Anyways if any of you old school or new school people can help me find some solid old school strains I’m insterested! I want to experience what the old school peeps had lmao. I heard it’s different from all the new hybrid strains. Even my brother says this new weed isnt like backthen.

Funny thing is back in the day none of the folks I knew wanted weed at all, we all smoked hash or oil. There were a few that stood out though. I always loved Maui Waui and also Shiva Skunk. I currently have 2 seedlings of each growing. One is from a breeder called Nirvana and one from Sensi Seeds. I am hoping for good things as they were old school favorites.

Peak Seeds BC has some old school genetics like Northern Lights, Blueberry and Sweet Skunk. Also has some nice hybrids. I've heard the Northern Skunk is super potent.

Had a buddy bring me from Columbia mangoviche (limon verde), punta Roha, and columbian gold. Looking to do some crosses with shorter flowering times. Mangoviche can go 24 weeks! Any suggestions on shorter, faster-flowering indicas that you can recommend crossing with? I use the paper bag technique. These are old-school, all of them.

I know everyone is sick of hearing it but I gather that Cinderella99 has something to do with 'shortening flower'

Thanks, will check it out. I hear cindy99 also is anti-mold, though I only grew it inside last time around the early 2000's I want to make a strain that survives Arctic fall weather with the fruity flavor of mango.

Heard it’s different from all the new hybrid strains. Even my brother says this new weed isnt like backthen.

I dont wanna put you off, this pheno/ strain hunting sounds really good. Almost like a trip to our inner self.

They re only nostalgic saying this about older strains. At the core, everything is better atm and this point of view will change even more in my next grow with inhouse genetics and symbiotic. Maybe not as 'pure' but def better. Im only 39 years old, still. Have a safe hunt!

Thanks for the replies guys I’ll definitely go check out some of the seed banks you guys/gals recommend. I feel like maybe what I’m actually looking for are distinctive strains like 100% sativas and Indicas. I like the idea of Sativas giving you a energetic laughing type of high and having a pure Indica strain to smoke at night or whatever for that couch lock feel.
Regardless of what strain I smoke I still get really blasted smoking any type of bud lmao.

I agree with what you’re saying. Weed nowadays is really potent. I like the idea of having landrace/ old school strains because they’re like the building block of every other strain and you get to preserve those genetics for yourself or others. Idk it’s just an idea lol

Ace seeds sell green mountain seeds. Currently no shipping to USA due to big seed Co. bust in spain. Green mountain have great genetics. For northern outdoor, purple satellite is good and fast. Green mountain grape flowers quick too. Ace congo, malawi, and guawi are good. I am growing bangi haze (mold resistent, fast flowering), malawi and purple satellite.

Can you still find decent blue satellite? I used to love that strain. The purple pheno is more mold resistant than the blue yea?

Exotic Alchemy has some solid old school genetics. I've got their Lambsread.

Coastal is a good choice too. I've grown out their Swazi Burmese.

I disagree completely about the new genetics being better. Yes, the THC content is higher and you get the slug to the face high from gear like cookies but it doesn't last long enough for me and it lacks complexity. Newer weed strains have been selectively bred for high THC and yield at the detriment of other cannibinoids. I'm not saying the old stuff is strong enough on its own (though you may be surprised at the high from IBL Santa Marta Gold or Jamaican heirloom), but reintroducing some landrace genetics to the gene pool will hopefully expand the range and complexity of the highs available, as well as the medicinal value. IMO opinion anyways.

Piece of advice though, if your just starting with landrace look for IBL (inbred lines) or stabilized crosses.... the genetic diversity in true landrace strains make for an unruly grow. Going to see a huge variation in phenotypes.

Not sure about the blue one.
Purp sat has a Nepalese parent that speeds up flowering and brings purple cues.
From ace site:
Purple Satellite is a cross of two Inbred lines: Oaxacan Gold kept from 1979 and a high altitude pure Nepalese sativa.
The Oaxacan bumps up the potency immensely (about 20% thc).

Zacateca tribute..green mountain seeds.
From ace site:

The once revered and thought to be extinct in pure form: purple Zacatecas Mexican sativa, which is clearly present in Big Sur Holy Weed genetic heritage, kept as an IBL. Big Sur Holy weed is legendary in her own right, and it was crossed in this hybrid with of one of the top ten rarest legendary Oaxacan Gold.

I agree with you. More thc does not always equal great overall high. I heard awesome things about lamb breath.

Romulan appears good from romulan genetics. Pretty good read from his website..veterans from korean war bringing back strains into navy port..

Kwik seeds has Afghani#1 (labelled afghaan on there site) seeds are from 90s stock and for skunk 1 id try female seeds skunk special also ace has a good Panama strain too
For landrace realseeds/kwik seeds there the same people there one of the very few companies that sell seeds from the source unless stated otherwise most of there stocks the real deal straight from point of origin so well worth a look mate
