Even though the OP made this post and hasn't been seen in 12 years I'll throw my 2¢ into the discussion.
I do it all the time. But I prefer to use tangerines or pomelo. They have a much more subtle yet refined flavor. Sometimes I use apples and cinnamon to make my buds taste like apple pie. And don't forget pineapple, mango, guava, etc... to give you that tropical flavor. If you crumble up a pack of Girl Scout Cookies you'll have the real taste of cookies. I like the Thin Mints. You can get really creative flavoring your plants. Your pantry is your canvas. Green beans, tomato sauce, sauerkraut, etc...
