Outdoor flowering question

First time outdoor grower so here's my question:
How long does it take for an outdoor plant to start flowering? Seeing as there's no 12/12 schedule and since it'd be in the ground not in a pot so I couldn't bring it indoors. I heard something about 4 week pre flowers but i'm not sure. Sun is up around 8 hours a day here and they've got to flower eventually.. Sorry if this has been asked before i'm just curious and I think alot

I would just wait until next spring to plant outdoors if that's what your asking.. It seems a little late in the season(today is the first day of fall) and the plant probably wouldn't survive long enough to flower. The Vets will chime in and give you the low down though I sure.

yea you most deffinetly will not get a plant to grow this late in season no matter the strain its getting to cold out... as for the flower process you should take this time to prepare yourself for next growing season (april-may-june) depending on what strain you have will depend on when you plant it and how long your flower process is in your plant. If you know your plant is a sativa it could have a flower period of 8-16weeks long, a mainly indica plant will have a flower period of 6-9 weeks so it depends on your strain, if you got seeds from a bag i would feel a safe bet in saying the plant will turn out to be Sativa x Indica or Indica x Sativa which means 50-50 ratio so your flower will most likely be between 7-12 weeks depending on which trait it leans more to during that period but look up info and be prepared because preperation is the best defense against the problems that suprisingly arise during the season good luck and happy growing!!! =)

Thanks for the response I should also note that i'm in Australia and yeah summer is rolling in. What I was wondering is how long until the plants START flowering seeing as there's no 12/12 :s

it depends on the plant like i said before some plants realize the change within very short periods a difference of maybe 25 mins they can notice and start to flower it doesn't always have to be 12/12 in nature because its natural alot of strains will start to flower at 13-11 depending on your location or different times depending on different strains some strains are not sensitive to short change therefor they flower later than expected and are meant for southern growing where summers are longer... anyways you get the point good luck growing

Since you are in the Southern Hemp. and yesterday was the first day of spring there you have until the 21st of December when your days start to shorten. Once the days start to shorten it will take anywhere from a month to 2 months for them to start to flower.
I hope I answered your question, it doesn't matter if it is not 12 hours it just goes by decreasing or increasing length of day.
Happy Growing
