going to grow some heirloom peas next year from a line almost a hundred years old, just to keep it going ( Old family stuff.) My 'maters look like they've been run over by a one-stack-mack truck right now but they're hangin' in there. :peace:

everytime I see this topic I have to laugh.

You ever seen that movie "Big BUlly" with Tom Arnold?

That weird guy with the salt. "PEAS?!?!?!?!?!"

Hi All...I just wanted to share an upated picture of the pea plants. I don't see any pods yet, but hopefully soon! They are just growing in all types of directions & next time I will make sure I use supports or plant the seed deeper as I can not get them to stand up right. There are 4 plants in that container(hard to tell I know). Hopefully nothing goes wrong & I'll have some peas by October. Any suggestions are welcome.

Hi All.......I just wanted to share some pics. with everyone & even though the spidermites have been hard at work my pea plants have several pods lookin' tasty. I also recently started some peas indoors to see if I can get some more mite free over winter. What does everyone think?

Hi All...I just wanted to share some pictures of the peas I managed to harvest thus far. The plants these came from are in bad condition, but do have more underdeveloped pods on them so we'll have to wait & see if I get any more. I'm still pleased that I got a small amount though for my first ever attempt. It brings some satisfaction & I also learned that peas are very sensitive, productive, & need large amounts of sun. I hope to have some pictures up soon of my indoor peas that I started as they are now growing pods as well although fungus gnats have been doing a number on them. I really enjoy the challenge of trying to grow a very healthy pea plant so I will definately be doing more.

try to let their soil dry out a little more between waterings, it might help get rid of those stupid gnats, I hate those little bastards.

Nice harvest for your first peas, now you've seen them grow and are already revising your method and thinking of better way's aren't you? I love to grow stuff.

I'm not a vegetable grower so much as a flower grower but I think next year I'm expanding, I want to grow carrots, something they put in carrots at the store (preservative) makes my mouth itch really bad and I can't eat them. I also want to try potatoes and maybe some garlic next year.

Thanx for that pointer on the peas & yes I will incorporate that into my future techniques. I want to grow & live in a forest - that would be awesome. I hear garlic is fairly easy to grow & has many many uses.

Hi All...I have some new pics. of the indoor & outdoor pea plants. They are very unhealthy & sad...but they are still kinda amazing me. The indoor peas have been brutally attacked by fungus gnats, but somehow as bad as they look they are still growing & have some peas developing:o The outdoor peas are equally surprising. These plants are the toughest/fragile plant I've come across...they have been devastated by spider mites & fungus gnats & are currently dealing with temps in the 20s & 30s & somehow they're still growing peas:shock: I will be planting at least one more pea plant before the end of the year so stay tuned for updates.
