Im building a 10x8x8 room and need a 375 cfm filter or more. Im looking at a phat filter. Pros, cons and how long do they last. Is the carbon replacable or do you just buy a whole new one? Let me know...Thanks!

A rule of thumb is 200 CFM of filter per thousand watts. That is basically a minimum though. I would also do Phresh filters over Phat filters. Neither have replaceable carbon, but they last up to 2.5-3 years in less humid areas...haha, not grow rooms, but in really humid grow rooms they should last you 1.5-2 years.
One way I've heard to make them last longer is to 'bake' them. After you notice they aren't working as well, take it outside during a hot, dry day and let it bake in the sun. This helps evaporate the moisture out of the carbon and sort of makes it more available to absorb moisture, particulates, odors, etc...

I have a Phat Filter right now in one of the rooms... It seems to be working. It is on its 4th grow right now... I will replace it after this grow.
I normally use Phresh, The store was out and I needed one right away... The Phat was a little bit cheaper.

phat is now phresh hank.. they got sued over copyrights and had to change the name from phat to phresh, which is probably why you got the phat filter a bit cheaper as it's old stock..
i have a phresh and love it, works great..

I'm just going to put it out there that you need more than 370 CFM to ventilate a room that size. Your room is 640 cubic feet. So even maxing out the filter you can only replace the air every couple of minutes.
IMO I'd err on the side of a filter that's too big rather than too small. If you push your filter too hard, there's less air:carbon contact and therefore less effectiveness. It sounds like you're rocking a 6" fan? I'd get a duct reducer and hook it up to an 8" filter. Might cost a bit more but it's the difference between smelling it and not smelling it.
As far as replacing the carbon, usually you can drill out the rivets and open it up to empty and replace the carbon. Will it be as effective as a new filter? Depends on how good of a job you do.

This is not true. Phat even brags that its carbon is mined in mongolia whereas Phresh comes from Australia.
Cheap ebay or chinese filters just plain suck.
Personally, I cheap out on everything except for carbon filters, and lighting.
Choose a matched filter for exhaust fan, phresh or phat
