Plant distance from light???

What sign's will my plant show me when it is to close to the light? I am having difficulties raising\lowering mine and I have some plants that are alot larger then others atm and I feel like it is to close. Leaves almost look as if they are wilting away from the light . Help?

Most people use the back of the hand method. If its to hot for you,its to hot for the plant. I would rather be cautious and have them further away.

too close you can get heat damage, like buds that form too close will be retarded- you get a few normal buds and the ones that are too hot are smaller and the hairs dont stick out like normal, they are just small and bent over, I have done it with my 120 watt incandescent plant lights if they are like a foot or less its too close., you can get a blach crispy leaf in an hour or less if the plant is too close its in a dead zone .
