Question on taking clones?

Hey guys and girls,

Quick question. I have no problem taking clones or getting roots, but I feel like I might not totally be doing it right. Whether I am taking a clone from the main stem or a side branch it seems to always result in having a topping effect where 2 shoots come out of the one side branch. Not a problem since it creates more places to clone from, but how can I take a clone so that only one shoot will grow back?

Thanks

PS heres a pic of my cloner and roots:

Looks good! Yea, to answer your question you cant. That is, the plant will do it regardless (something about hormones). I have seen some that does not respond well from topping (they dont double) but extra growth below cut. You really dont want to keep a mom any longer than a year. Good luck!
