I thought only tops produced branches from the nodes. Every one of my plants has been super bushy (they were a little squeezed in their space now that I've got more room they've opened up significantly).
When they first started growing, the branches came from the nodes off of the main stalk, which I was familiar with. But now that my plants aren't seedlings, every single one of them has the same type of structure-- every branch, not just the main tops, are growing branches from their nodes as well.
I've taken off a lot of the lower ones. At first I through it was just leaves growing at the nodes, but like I said even my branches are growing new branches at the nodes.
Which leads me to my next question, what about the bud sites? Will each of these small branches (coming off of branches) produce buds at the nodes? Or will only the branches coming off of the main stalk produce buds at their nodes (all the nodes on the branch, not just the base).
I've been wanting answers as to what my best bet would be, as far as whether I should take off these small branches or leave them on. In the end I guess I'm just gonna have to grow these fuckers out and see what I like best.
I want the overall best yield, and I really don't care if its popcorn buds or big fat colas (prefer the colas but I'm going for weight).
Any insight is greatly appreciated. Is this regular development for a plant? I've just never seen one with as many branches as mine. I've been lollipopping the lower ones, but I don't want to pull these branches off if it will "deactivate" the bud sites
