Red spider mites ~ Need solutions!

I have just noticed a red spider mite crawling around in the soil and I went to inspect further and found a few more... god knows how many are lurking in my soil... Further inspection of my plant shows tiny dark green spots on the new forming leaves... is that from the pests?

I want to use a bleach and water mix to get rid of these. What is the ratio of water to bleach and how much would I need to use?

+Rep if you're helpful :D

The top part of my new growth has glazed dark green circle spots all on the leaves and it's eating into the plant somewhat. I'll provide a picture tomorrow morning since my plants are in the dark cycle right now.

i have red preditor mites all over outside my house so if i get bugs i just put them outside, tons of red mites hop on and i bring them back in. they rock they are fast and eat anything they can get their jaws on. you can buy mites or lady bugs

oh ps 10 parts water one part bleach is what you use for cleaning the grow room. don't think i'd put it on my plants though

go to home depot and get a hot shot no-pest insect strip. They are about $6 each. hang them in your grow area for about 3 weeks upto and around 4 weeks of flowering and the vapor will kill the mites within hours and will also take care of the larva as they hatch. I know it seems too simple but it really does work.

hot shot strips are super toxic they have warnings not to be in the same room as it for to long. i don't know about you but i don't really want to smoke poison. i have used neem oil and organicide from home depot.

thats why you remove them from the grow area at 4 weeks flowering. the fact is neem oil just doesnt do the trick unless you catch them super early in veg stage and treat everyday and even then its usless once you start to flower. organicide on the other hand is good for making your plants smell like fish oil and attracting more pests than it repeals. Ive got some organicide it just doesnt work.

...need works better as a preventative, imo. I neem every couple weeks or so for veg...and only the 1st week of flowering. I've never had bugs. (fingers crossed)

You guys are a great help. Like a brother from another mother lol, thanks for the tips that I didn't even ask for :) I'm going to pick up some hot shot strips today and some neem oil sometime next week.

Sure doesn't sound like spider mites to me. They don't make dark green spots on new growth - they make little white dots on bigger leaves, and when they get really established they start making webs. As others have said, little red mites in the soil are the good kind of mites. I like neem as a preventative, but I'd hold off on using any toxic stuff right away... to me it does not sound like you have a pest problem. Get some pics up if you can.
