reflectors for star mounted leds..

I've been using these reflectors for my stars with great results. I'm not sure with it appears dull inside but they are actually polished to a mirror finish.

for $.75-$.30 cents each they really can not be beat. There us no longer lost light from the sides and it does not put it into a spotlight type beam, it's still wide enough to get them very close and get a good spread.

What is it's original purpose? Make them?

Would these be beneficial for cobs?

They are made out of aluminum polished like a mirror. I don't care for lenses since you do lose some light with them i wanted something just to reflect any light that was to wide and was being wasted, these also come in different heights and angles but the one pictured has been the best of both worlds so far for me.

Any pics of how you secured the star and soldered the terminals?

I used to secure them with thermal epoxy. There is models with holes in the bottom and some in the side. I solder the star as normal then i would thread the wire threw the side holes then epoxy it in place. Now i solder it thread the wires threw then use 4-40 nylon 6-6 screws and attach it to the heatsink like that.

the US government is the seller. I am the manufacturer.

Doesn't look like a screw would fit. Adhesive and drilled through would work though I suppose

I'm not around my lights at the moment. What do you mean a screw won't fit? This is how i attach them. a 4-40 nylon button head screw. Drill and tap my heatsink and attach them. Very clean look with no kapton tape or epoxy squeezing out. I just use a tiny blob of thermal compound and that's it.

A 4-40 is pushing it i used to use a 0-80 button head and slowly moved up to 1-72 then 2-56 then 3-48 and finally stopping at 4-40. You can find these in 6-6 nylon in lengths in 1/32 increments.
