Removing Fan leaves

Is this a good idea to let more light get to the buds or is there a fine balance where if you remove too many the plant will die/not get enough light.

Leave the leaves unless they are turning colour and about to fall off themselves. If this is happening all over then there is a problem though.

you can remove the leaves somewhat, ther is a technique to it. did i spell technique right? i dunno...anyways. you can chose the leaves that you may want to "remove" and just cut the finger in half. this will allow more light to see the bottom of the plant and will still allow those leaves to absorb light. i am not a fan of removing sun leaves unless they are dying, i would wait until the leaf is totally yellow before removing it unless it removes itself.

dude.... this is whats up with fan leaves..... when your plants growing it needs them.... now if you have a tight canapee... then you may have to trim off sucker growth thats not getting light at the bottom... thing is... in my room, when my canpee is going, i take of the bottom leaves upuntill the set just under the canapee, so i leave one set of leaves under the canpee, reason being, if you have big leaves that arnt doing anything for you there sucking energy from the plant, thats why they turn yellow and die from lack of light.. its better to trim off from the second set under the canepee down... it also improoves air movement under your canapee so if your room is hot you can keep under the plants cool,, so they can take more heat... blow ac under there use a fat whatever.. these are just things i have done or do.... these suggestions may or may not help you.. but back to the fan leaves like you were saying... now with them.. you hae to realist there like supozitoris for nightrogen and other teace lements the plant neeeds later in its flower cycle... when the plant first start budding, 2 weeks in i make sure all the under growth is cut out... well by 2 weeks in sometimes i do it at a week and a 1/2... never the less.. its when the busts start froming... cuz if you have under growth its gona take enegy away from the main part of the plant... if you have alot of under growth you can get airy buds... that crumbe easy when dry... kinda sucks... take my word for it.. looks BIG... but not really that cool in the end... never the lesss... the reason for leaving 1 set of leaves under the canpee, is incase you start to get some kind of deffishency your plant will sacrifice the lover set of leaves.. also your plant will continue to stretch all though flower... soo later on when it neads the extra energy... i like to use a PK booster... PK 13/14 booster that is.... i make my plants blow up... they take all the extra nightrogen from the elaves and on the last 2 weeks, they eat it up, cleaning them selves out.... it makes them swelll.... soo the fan leaves are really goood... to have up untill a vertiant point.... you don't wat an excess of sucker growth cuz it will take away from your main colas making them airy... but you want to leave a little under cut incase of a deffishancy.... make since... good... have a nice night...

I take off all my big sucker leaves.

I do remove the large fan leaves when i have a dense canopy... sometimes they get so dense 10k in light cannot penetrate... I do have a pattern... I only remove 1 per branch.... and only the large ones that are shading light from lower ... You would be amazed how fast more will shoot up and lower budsites getting bigger when removed... I didn't do a good job at thinning out this last time.... i had 5.5 pounds of popcorn bud.... If I had bent branches more, thinned out more and probably ran more verticle light I probably would not had nearly half that in wasted medication

If you do not need to remove them then leave them. I remove fans that shade buds which comes to maybe half of all of them. I see new leaf growth around the buds take off after the fans are clipped. I doubt I am stunting the plant much at all and I get better buds if they receive direct light.

Dank pretty much said it all.DO NOT REMOVE ALL YOUR FAN LEAVES. You don't want to remove all fan leaves because the fan leaves promote photosynthesis which helps the plant grow.I "would"cut half of the leaf if it covers nugs. If it is in the way of bud sites i cut it. If it isn't effecting anything i leave it.

If there are too many fan leaves or leaves in general your lights will not penetrate through your canopy. This is will result in small airy buds that have a low THC content. Proven fact.
Also IMO i like when the light penetrates through the canopy because it even hits the soil. It dry the soil up faster allowing you to water more. (Just my opinion).
The more leafs in your canopy the darker it is, the more moisture is trapped in etc etc.
