heres the thing i have made a grow room out of a LARGE strorage box i have fitted the lid with my grow lights, the see thru plastic has been blacked out so no light will escape i just have one problem with my computer fans i am using


basicly i dont want to attach them up to the mains cus that will use even more electricity that i dont want to use. so i was wondering if there was a way of connected them to somehting like a 9V battery or something then just change the batterys round ever couple of days or so......


any help i would love! and if u have a picture or something of how to do it EVEN BETTEr

well, computer fans are 12 volts, so a 9 volt wouldn't work. you could probably use one of those lantern batteries, but you wouldn't be able to recharge it. computer fans use practically no power at all, less than 10 watts per fan. you could just buy a computer power supply and wire them up that way, otherwise you'll need some of those plugs which have the built in transformers. the only problem with those is they have to be the correct amperage and voltage to run those fans.

i found 3 9V computer fans on ebay i have them in my hand right now im wondering if i strip the wiure a lil will i find a negative and a possive wiere to i can just hook it straigfht up to the battery?!?!?!

It will work off a 9V battery, just slower, (figure 50% reduction in airflow). Get a handful of rechargeable and a solar recharger. Free power for the fans!
