Rosin curing / jar tech

So I've recently been getting into rosin pressing and one of the things I'd like to investigate more is curing or, I've seen it called online, jar tech.

Last week I pressed out about at eighth of rosin. Freshly pressed it was hard and tacky, very difficult to work with.

I tossed it on my seedling heating mat with no further treatment, left it there for a few days, and it transformed the rosin into a more buttery texture. I wish I'd taken pics when I had more of it left, but it was good stuff!

A few days ago I pressed out some more rosin from the same plant. This went straight into a jar with a metal lid, and then into my toaster oven set to ~220. I didn't set a timer or really watch, I suspect I left it in there a bit longer than was ideal but when I came back it was pretty much a liquid consistency. I placed this on the heat mat as well and left it for a couple days, and I'm left with a thicker honey-like consistency, it almost feels like shatter when you let it warm up. It still smokes great, though I'm not impressed with the terpene profile on this plant's extract.

I'm not really sure what my ideal consistency is yet, I think of the two I liked the more buttery consistency I got from just a few days on the heat mat without a quick run through the oven. Both of these, however, are pretty easy to get into my nail and not too difficult to work with.

What consistency do you like for your extracts? How do you achieve it?

Yooooo I just pressed a little kief yesterday and it was super light color but when I pressed it came out lot darker I was at 175 degrees what temp would you use ?

It's not gooweee it's more like glass I guess you can say
Yeah that's how mine were at first, they were very hard to work with. If you have a seedling heating mat, try leaving it sitting on there for a few days, preferably in a glass jar.

It's amazing to me how many different consistencies you can get with just a little bit of environmental control. Going to be doing lots of experiments on this front!

Hell yah it's bad ass I have a trim bin with the screen and just been shaking everything nd pressing the kief I'm just trying to get that light color

I'm about to hang some plants when should I try and press the bud how fresh do you want?
I've been pressing mine shortly after I jar them. Thinking a day or two in the jars to help normalize the moisture content perhaps and then straight to pressing.

I did that for the first type of tech and a week later after it being in the jar with a boveda pack I pressed the other one. Both of them worked really well.

I think the best use of this technique is for thinning out rosin for cartridges...otherwise, re-heating rosin to alter consistency while burning off terps doesn't seem worth the time.

Can't tell any difference in the terps or strength between the two batches. Can't imagine it's changed much by a few minutes in the oven at 220 or days on the heat pad at 80 F

Thank God somebody finally said it.you have already heated it once why a second time.you are clearly losing return and end product. Take that whole plant and make hash. you will see a much better return when you press it.good luck buddy.
